Reading Galaxy model numbers: what SM- codes actually tell you
Updated SamsungFirmware.com editorial desk

Every Galaxy device carries an SM- model code. The letters and digits after the prefix indicate the family and generation, while the trailing letter identifies the regional or carrier variant.
Firmware is compiled per model code. A build intended for one variant will not install on another, even when the marketing name is identical.
When a model code has not been officially confirmed for an unreleased device, we list it as Unconfirmed rather than publishing speculation.
