Samsung Knox Mobile Enrollment Guide

Knox Mobile Enrollment (KME) is Samsung's automated bulk enrollment service for enterprise Galaxy device fleets. It allows organisations to provision devices automatically the first time they are powered on, without manual configuration by the end user or IT staff.

SamsungFirmware.com provides an independent overview. Current Samsung documentation confirms KME supports automated bulk enrollment and profile-based provisioning.

Automated bulk enrollment

KME allows organisations to register device model numbers or purchase orders with Samsung. When registered devices are powered on for the first time and connect to a network, they automatically contact the KME server, download their assigned profile and enroll into the organisation's management system — all without manual IT intervention. This makes KME ideal for deploying large fleets of devices efficiently.

Out-of-box provisioning

With KME, devices are provisioned straight out of the box. The user simply powers on the device, connects to Wi-Fi and the device automatically enrolls. There is no need for the user to navigate settings menus, scan QR codes or enter server addresses. This reduces IT support costs and ensures consistent configuration across the fleet.

Profile assignment

Administrators assign enrollment profiles to devices or groups of devices in the Knox Admin Portal. A profile specifies which MDM server the device should enroll into, what management mode to use (fully managed, work profile, etc.) and any initial configuration. Different profiles can be assigned to different groups — for example, executives might receive a work-profile profile while field workers receive a fully-managed kiosk profile.

  • Profile specifies target MDM server and management mode
  • Different profiles for different device groups
  • Profiles can include initial configuration and policies
  • Managed through the Knox Admin Portal

Knox Admin Portal

The Knox Admin Portal is the central cloud console where administrators manage KME registrations, profiles and device assignments. From the portal, administrators can view enrollment status, assign profiles, manage device groups and monitor the provisioning process across their fleet. The portal also provides access to other Knox services like Knox Manage, Knox Configure and Knox Guard.
